Goofs

As the police are pulling them over, Stacey has ditched his red gang bandana in the master shot, but it reappears in an over-the-shoulder shot into the back seat.

At Tanya's apartment, Roland throws his tie at Slim when he attacks him.

In the following shot, he is seen wearing it.

There is Wrigley's Winterfresh gum, first released in the 1990s, in the convenience store in 1986.

When Stacy is driving the boys to the dance, Too Short's "Freaky Tales" can be heard playing in the background.

The setting for this part of the movie is 1986, and "Freaky Tales" wasn't released until 1988.

When Mike is helping escort Roland from Tanya's apartment he is also holding a coffee mug.

When he turns around to say something to Tanya he's all of a sudden holding the coffee pot instead.

When Alicia is singing along to "If This World Were Mine" at the dance, her lips are out of sync with the music.

When older Slim and Mike shake hands at the mini market, Slim clearly misses Mike's hand the first time and almost misses it the second time.

At the dance when Mike is apologizing to Alicia, he clearly messes up his line.

Bernard High School is actually located in Los Angeles, Playa Del Ray, California not Inglewood.

Reviews

What me amazes the most about this picture is the way filmmakers chose to tell both stories they intercalate the adult boys happenings with old stories about their youth. The youth times are filled with everything a teenager has to face: fights in school, girls and their fears, the prom dance-- specially in the American culture)-, among others.

An underrated classic gem about brothas sticking together and growing up.Its a comedy slash drama slash romance slash self-help movie.

"The Wood" is a friends coming of age piece. It revolved around three friends: Roland (Trent Cameron/Taye Diggs), Slim (Duane Finley/Richard T.

I relate to this movie because it describes the teens life awkward upcoming friendships and what they think is important to them.

A coming of age tale of three lifelong childhood friends and the trial and tribulations of growing up black in Inglewood, Los Angeles California. Mike, Slim & Roland have been best of friends since Junior high and now all grown up it's the night before Roland's wedding and he has a case of cold feet.

I never really had an interest seeing this movie because so many African American's movie's seem to lack originality. I just happen to see it on television and decided to watch it.

Movies are made to tell a story in an entertaining fashion. Any movie that effectively delivers the main point of the story, and does so with strong conviction and entertaining plot twists, gets a full rating in my book.

Rick Famuyiwa has written a story about friendship that everyone can relate to. The young actors - Duane Finley, Trent Cameron and especially Sean Nelson were great.
