The 6th Marquesss mother, Jacks great-grandmother Sybil Sassoon, was from a Jewish family (from Iraq, India, Germany, and France), and through her, Jack is a descendant of both David Sassoon, the treasurer of Baghdad between 1817 and 1829, and Mayer Amschel Rothschild, who founded the Rothschild banking dynasty. Jacks maternal grandmother, Lavinia Margaret (Leslie), was of British background.
