Five children, Stephanie, Thomas, Madeleine, Olivia, James Amelia.
Studied Arts and Law at Melbourne University, working as a lawyer in Australia and overseas before moving into television. He founded Artist Services in 1990 and was Executive Chairman until 1998 when it was sold to Granada Media after which he remained as Chairman of Granada Australia. He was the Chairman of the National Gallery of Victoria, the Screen Producers Association of Australia and the Major Events Company.
He was awarded the Australian Centenary Medal in the 2001 Queens New Years Honours List for his services to the arts, major events, philanthropy and the community. He has interviewed over 2000 people for television including: Bob Hope, Mel Gibson, Audrey Hepburn, Shirley MacLaine, Dionne Warwick, Jerry Hall, Sir Bob Geldof, Sir Peter Ustinov, Whoopi Goldberg, Lyn Redgrave, Jane Seymour, George Benson, Burt Reynolds, Bette Midler, Phyllis Diller, Oliver Stone, Spinal Tap, Tim Robbins, Chevy Chase, Steve Allen, Lou Rawls, Elle Macpherson, Patrick Swayzee, Kirk Douglas, Phil Collins, Quincy Jones, Mickey Rooney, Leo McKern, Edward de Bono, Robert Ludlum, Sir Harry Seacombe, Gerard Depardieu, Billy Joel, Ben Elton, Oliver Reed, Robin Williams.
