In the scene where Brennan kills Billy Jack, it's daytime outside when Brennan tells him to go into the "room" to look at Doretta.

When you see him enter, it appears to be dark out.

Then, when Brennan and Doretta leave, it's suddenly daytime again.

After Brennan kills Chink and rolls his body over, Chink moves his feet together and raises them up to make it easier for Brennan to put rope around his ankles.

As Brennan rides into town, after the meeting with the station keeper and his son, he passes the stage, which is standing in the street.

Behind the stage, in the street behind, there is a parked car.

In the hideout is a fireplace with a highway torch burning in it.

Commonly known as smudge pots, these round oil burners warned drivers of caution ahead.

Patented in 1927 and commonly seen on roadways in the 1950s, this one somehow did a time warp back to the 1880's.

Having lost his horse in a bet, Pat Brennan hitches a ride with a stagecoach carrying newlyweds, Willard and Doretta Mims. At the next station the coach and its passengers fall into the hands of a trio of outlaws headed by a man named Usher.

Pat Brennan loses his horse in a bet and is forced to hit the trail on foot. Thinking his luck has turned, he manages to hitch a ride on a stagecoach carrying newlyweds, the Mims'.

Can't recommend this movie, although it starts out pleasantly, with some fun horsing around and conversations. Richard Boone does make a forceful, charismatic, if none too smart, leader of his little bandit gang of 3.

None of the bad guys have distinction ... same old black hats..

This had both an excellent cast and was exciting from start to finish. I was curious about it when I saw it at #55 in my highly recommended copy of 'The Editors of American Cowboy Magazine's The Top 100 Western Movies of All Time'.

Losing his horse in a bet at "The Tall T" ranch, grizzled cowboy Randolph Scott (as Patrick "Pat" Brennan) hitches a ride on the trail with coach driver Arthur Hunnicutt (as Ed Rintoon). Inside the coach are newlywed heiress Maureen O'Sullivan (as Doretta) and her cowardly husband John Hubbard (as Willard Mims).

I think this to be one of the best Westerns I have ever seen. Being a "director" at heart, there are three scenes I would change to make it perfect.

A masterpiece and one of the greatest of all westerns, this is the best of a series of quintessential movies that Randolph Scott and Budd Boetticher made together. All were B-Movies, clocking in at around the 80 minute mark and making the most of a small cast and straightforward story-lines.
