Goofs

The VW Tiguan Eleanor drives in New York City is clearly a European version, with no amber or red side markers, and a rear cut-out for a wider European license plate.

When Umberto Calvini is assassinated, the weather is dry and bright, though overcast.

Louis and Eleanor run into the hotel and out the other side, where it is foggy and wet.

When Salinger questions Wilhelm Wexler, the tip of his right shirt collar is above his vest, and under his jacket.

A few shots later, it is underneath his vest, although he made no attempt to correct it.

When Salinger and Whitman are on the roof talking about how the second shooter made the shot, the camera "transforms" into the scope.

During this "scene" you can see how the two shots are shot.

The scenes before clearly show the two shots going through the pillar.

In the "scope scene," the woman behind the pillar isn't hurt.

Ahmet Sunay meets Jonas Skarssen in Istanbul.

They begin their discussion outside the Suleymaniye Mosque, then enter the Blue Mosque.

When Sunay and Skarssen move to a more private place, Sunay leads him underground, to the Basilica Cistern.

After the two leave the mosque, they move to the Grand Bazaar in just a second.

The 4 places are all within a few kilometers of each other, but are not connected in the way the movie portrays.

During the museum shootout, Salinger fires 9 to 11 shots from the cop's revolver in successive shots.

In Turkey, when Louis Salinger chasing Jonas Skarssen, and Skarssen reaches the point where the path has become damaged and inaccessible, he turns to face Salinger.

His right shirt collar is over his suit jacket lapel.

When the camera cuts back to Skarssen, the shirt collar is now neatly under the jacket lapel.

When Eleanor goes to see Salinger at the police station after the Consultant dies, she is wearing boots.

When she and Salinger go see Wilhelm Wexler at the bail bondsman's office, she's wearing shoes.

When Tommy and Clement are talking, the steering wheel of their Audi A8L changes position between shots.

Shortly after Mrs.

Whitman and Salinger leave the elevator, Whitman's scarf is wrapped around her neck.

A few seconds later, after a cut, it has changed position.

When Eleanor is exiting the taxi, a boom mic is clearly visible in the car window.

When the New York D.

chews out Whitman in his office, a pair of red scissors is on the desk.

When the shot changes, the scissors are gone.

When the shot changes again, the scissors are back.

When Salinger and Eleanor investigate the bullet holes in the pillar, the holes are about 3 inches apart, and on top of each other.

In later scene, when the camera view is transformed into the sniper scope, the second shot leaves its mark on the pillar about foot from the first bullet hole, and to on the left.

The close-up of the spike mike hidden under Skarssen's lapel shows an obvious lump and a lapel cut that is distinctly different from the following fuller upper body shot.

During the text messaging between ADA Whitman and Mrs.

Clement, Ella's Blackberry shows the date as "November 23, 2008.

" When Whitman and Salinger land in NYC, the date stamp on the photograph of the assassin going through the airport says 11/24/2007.

In the final scene, a close-up of Salinger's eyes shows a white rectangular reflector.

During the assassination scene, some obvious matte work is visible when the victim stands in front of a TV monitor.

At the end of the movie, when Skarssen is killed on the roof in Istanbul, the sun is high in the sky, visible by the shadows.

After Skarssen's killer walks away, the sun has almost set behind the buildings.

When Salinger and Karssen meet on the Grand Bazaar rooftop in Istanbul, both characters are backlit, even though they are facing each other.

(According to the DVD commentary, the director wanted both to be lit by a dramatic back light.

The scene was filmed twice, once in the morning and once in the evening.

After cutting between the two shoots, the sun is behind both actors in the scene.

) When Salinger is talking to Dr.

Isaacson you see a camera moving in the background.

The IBBC - International Bank of Business and Credit - is incorrectly identified at the end in one of the news articles as the International Bank of Business and Commerce.

The building of Calvini Defense HQ at the Lago Iseo, Italy, is actually the "phaeno", a science museum designed by Zaha Hadid in Wolfsburg, Germany, which is located in the center of the city.

Salinger and Whitman leave the police station and drive over the Queensboro Bridge to a Brooklyn warehouse (as per the warehouse sign) to interrogate Wexler.

The Queensboro Bridge connects Manhattan to Queens and not Brooklyn.

They should have driven over the Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, or Battery Tunnel to reach Brooklyn.

The police enforcement in Luxembourg are not referred to as the Gendarmes.

They are known as the Police Grand Ducale.

The characters Tommy and Clement are talking inside of an Audi.

But when Louis finds out that Clement died, the car shown in the picture online is clearly a VW Passat.

When Salinger finds the black car The Contractor used to run over Elle, the first shot shows an unharmed windshield, and seconds later they show it has the mark seen after the crash.

The cut and bandages change often when Owen is talking to man in prison.

When Salinger and Whitman are going to talk to Umberto Calvini, as they leave the elevator Whitman has her scarf around her neck.

In the next shot, the scarf changes position.

When Eleanor meets Salinger in Italy to visit Calvino together, her driver is seen just off screen unloading her luggage from the back of the car.

In the next shot he gets in the car, there is no luggage, while Eleanor, Salinger and the Italian inspector just walk away, no luggage in hand.

When Detective Ward is shot in the neck at the museum, Salinger tries to stop the gushing blood with his hand.

Yet, when he grabs the (white) railing as the shoot-out continues, he leaves no traces from his blood covered hands.
