Pups is sad and disturbing and a very powerful and real tale about two lovers, mislead youths, where the high strung boyfriend who's wired wrong, on the spare of the moment, decides to rob a bank, dragging his girlfriend, (Barton) along. We know how these drama's ensue, where like Dog Day Afternoon, the movie becomes a one set peace, steered by a great youthful performance.

Just remembered watching this film in 1999. I was the same age as the 'Pups' at the time it was made, the film had quite an impact on me.

This film is an honest, gritty look at four young men who love the game of football. Each is driven by different goals during their careers, yet they came together as a team that displays an inordinate degree of dedication and heart.

Okay, okay, so it wasn't Mischa's best work. Yes indeed, she was much better in Lawn Dogs, and even quite okay in 'Once and Again' but even here, at times, she didn't suck THAT much.

I ran across this movie when I was thirteen, and stopped only because I thought Mischa Barton was hot. I wound up watching the entire thing, and then stayed up until four so I could record it off of HBO West.

As you probably know, the whole "Dog Day Afternoon" plot has been done to death by other movies and television shows. But the twist in this redoing - having the hostage takers be youths - does have some promise.

I see you have written reviews for many films and probably consider yourself as a well experienced movie watcher (lol) I understand what you're saying about this film, i agree it was poor but i still enjoyed it, it's really not that bad. Hey it's a film and sometimes things are a bit unreal like the bank being open before school etc.

All these bad comments like "It's unrealistic! Normally she would have been shot when she comes outside the bank" and "they are just waving the gun and are acting bad" are just written by people who have no idea at all.

Well I'm giving this a 7 because of the movie it could have been. Generally, most of these comments are pretty accurate, but it really was a very good idea - the movie shows the media obsession with violence, similarly to natural born killers, but with the added spin of the effect this has on children.
