The hand sound of the organ heard at Rev Smallwood's church is too loud and rich for the small, hand-pumped console we see.

Another satire by directors John and Roy Boulting, "Heavens Above!" stars Peter Sellers as a Christian chaplain who takes over the running of a small church.

This movie shows low life parents of ten kids admitting they don't want to work. Shows them sitting around drinking & smoking & trying to scam the system for free food & rent.

Peter Sellers plays a minister with a new assignment in "Heavens Above!" a 1963 film written by John Boulting and directed by John and Roy Boulting.

Several reviewers think this movie has a weak ending. I don't.

Heaven's Above clearly has some clever satirical ideas in play, but the execution of the film just seems to leave the story content totally unbalanced. On top of that, it has an ending that appears to indicate the script writers didn't know how to conclude the story at all.

A Boulting Brothers Production for British Lion-Romulus, filmed at Shepperton Studios. Copyright 1963 by Charter Film Productions.

Roy and John Boulting had previously guyed the British army in 'Private's Progress', diplomacy in 'Carlton-Browne Of The F.O.

This film is great fun, well written and well acted. While the ending is unexpected, if you haven't seen it before, it is difficult to know how all the issues could've been resolved in any other way except as unresolved as it is here!
