Unassuming, innocent-eyed and always ingratiating, Brit comedy actor Ian Carmichael was quite the popular chap in late 50s and early 60s film. He was born in Hull, Yorkshire, England on June 18, 1920, the son of Arthur Denholm Carmichael, an optician, and his wife Kate was in 2009. The actor died on February 7, 2010, following a month-long illness.
He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2003 Queens Birthday Honours List for his services to drama.
He is an Associate Member of RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts) in London, England.
He was educated at Scarborough College and Bromsgrove School.
Was Chairman of The Lords Taverners (1970-1971).
