Christopher Weddle is related to J.D. Tippit, the Dallas police officer allegedly killed by Lee Harvey Oswald as he fled the site of John F. Kennedys assassination.
His father, Christopher Twyman Weddle, was chosen as the model for a bronze statue to commemorate helicopter crewman from the Vietnam War. The statue bears his nickname, "Tex".
