Biography

Xavier Martinez is a film director, producer and screenwriter based in Montreal, Canada. Passionate about storytelling from a very early age, he began making small stop-motion films in his childhood and, throughout his teenage years, went on to make more serious experimentations while discovering the great icons of world cinema. As of 2017, he is active as an up-and-coming filmmaker under his own production company, CanyonGem Productions S.E.N.C., while pursuing his studies at McGill University. He is also an active member of other filmmaking organizations such as Kino'00 and TVM: Student Television at McGill, and his other creative interests include poetry, prose writing and photography.

Essentially discovered world cinema through his neighborhood video store, the DVD De La Gare store in the Town of Mount Royal, renting DVDs every week for eight consecutive years, from 2005 to 2013, before it ultimately closed down.
