Worked in collaboration with Sir John Soane at Moggerhanger (Bedfordshire) in 1810 following the retirement of John C. Crace (1754-1819), who had begun decorating the interior in the 1790s.
Worked as editor at Keystone before a career as director of comedy shorts for Fox (1918), Universal (1919-1921), Hal Roach (1922-1924) and Al Christie (1925).
