In the past few years, Walton Goggins has had pivotal roles in films by two of Hollywood's most important auteurs: Quentin Tarantino and Steven Spielberg. His integral role as 'Chris Mannix,' a southern renegade who claims to be the new sheriff of Red Rock in Tarantino's THE HATEFUL EIGHT, marks his second collaboration with the Academy Award-winning writer/director. He previously played slave fight trainer 'Billy Crash' in Tarantino's 2012 DJANGO UNCHAINED. That same year, Goggins also appeared in Steven Spielberg's LINCOLN, where he portrayed Congressman 'Wells A. Hutchins.' Goggins has wrapped principal photography on the feature "The Three Christs of Ypsilanti," in which he plays the role of 'Christ.' Is an avid photographer and traveler.

His two favorite authors are W. Somerset Maugham and Hermann Hesse.

Co-owner of "Ginny Mule Pictures", along with partner Ray McKinnon , a film and television production company.

Goggins appeared in an extended trailer (or abbreviated pilot) for a fourth season of the low-rated but critically-beloved TV show, "Veronica Mars" . Instead of being a college undergraduate, as she was at the end of season three, in the spec season four, Veronica has graduated from college and the FBI Academy and is starting her first day as a FBI agent. The pitch contained a whole new cast of, heretofore unseen, characters and, except for Veronica herself, none of the characters from the shows previous seasons. Goggins was cast as Veronicas FBI supervisor. The CW failed to pick up this new version of "Veronica Mars" and the show was canceled.

Goggins was the object of Georgia General Assembly House Resolution 1589, which stated that the members of the Georgia House commended him on his distinguished acting career and on his Academy Award on behalf of the residents of Lithia Springs, Douglas County, and the state of Georgia.

Good friends with his "Justified" co-star Timothy Olyphant.

Father of Augustus, born 2011.

He initially turned down the role of Boyd Crowder on "Justified" because he was concerned it would be a negative stereotype of Southerners. He finally agreed to shoot the pilot, in which Boyd was originally killed. However, his character did so well with testing audiences that it was decided to reshoot the end of the pilot to allow Boyd to live and be a recurring character.

He has had significant dental work done after his teeth were knocked out twice as a child, once while playing baseball and again in an accident on a diving board.

Born in Alabama but raised in Georgia.

Grew up in an 1850s Georgia farmhouse.

Has a son named Lawrence (born 2011).

After Joe Mananginello had to drop out of the "Six" miniseries, Goggins was approached about taking the role of a former Navy SEAL who falls into alcoholism after a mission gone bad and later seeks redemption. He liked the basic idea but told the projects producers he didnt want it to be a "propaganda" exercise for the military. Among his key points on this score were that it was made clear that his SEAL characters actions in an early scene involving an anti-terrorist operation were "war crimes" and that it was vital to present the story of the terrorist who is after him with as much depth as the SEALs character arc had. The producers liked his ideas and cast him after that meeting.
