Trivia

Lives with his wife Nadja Tiller in Lugano, Switzerland. They announced that they will move to Hamburg to live in a retirement home in 2007.

Has two children, Natascha and Jan-Claudius.

Studied medicine in Hamburg.

In the post-war German cinema, Walter Giller played the perennial joker, comic relief or friend to the hero. He was at his best when the dialogue involved witty repartee.

Conscripted in 1942, he served for three years with an anti-aircraft unit. At the end of the war, he briefly became an American POW.

The son of a physician, Giller abandoned his own medical studies and worked for some time as an electrician. He then became an assistant director at the Hamburg Kammerspiele. After having to stand in for an actor who had become ill, he pursued further acting studies under Eduard Marks and eventually made his film debut in a small supporting role in 1949.
