Vishal Shah was born and brought up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in a family which traded in securities and stocks since last 3 generations. During his school life he discovered an interest for performing on stage and he started participating in school activities every year. Dance,Drama or any extra curricular activity interested him a lot in school days and the same was carried forward in his college life. He got admission in S.M.P.I.C college on the basis of his stage experience in school & there he had his first experience of theatre at the Indian National Theatre competition with real stage and with real audience. Though still it was amateur performance but it clicked him and he decided to make his career in acting. After 5 years of working in amateur theatre in college and working with different directors in college he moved out to do theatre on a commercial basis. His background and his family which had no existence of anyone interested in theatre or acting since last many generations created obstacles for him due to which he started his education in Chartered Accountancy along with doing part time theatre. Finally at the age of 25 he decided to quit education and applied for FTII for diploma in acting. He cleared all the tests and was in the final 36 candidates selected from all over Indian, though he couldn't crack the final interview and so he decided to get back to his hometown and started with full time theatre. Besides that he started conducting theatre workshops at various institutes & corporate's.
