Austrian-born leading actress, born as Valrie Adele Rudolfine Maria Pajr Edle von Mayersperg. She was chiefly notable for partnering her husband Curt Goetz on stage, as well as in a few highly entertaining films, including Napoleon ist an allem schuld , Das Haus in Montevideo and Hokuspokus .

She co-directed the 1951 film The House in Montevideo with Goetz in which they featured in the lead roles.[.

Valrie von Martens was born in Lienz, Tirol, daughter of the Austrian admiral Rudolf Pajr Edler von Mayersperg.

In 1922 she met the actor Curt Goetz. They married on 20 December 1923 in Berlin. She then appeared with him on stage and screen, mainly in pieces written or directed by him.

She was an actress in Vienna when she had a relationship with the cabaret artist Karl Farkas.

She already made her film debut in 1921, after that she concentrated to the theater again and many years went by before she appeared again in front of the camera.

The actress Valerie von Martens formed together with the actor and director Curt Goetz a brilliant couple which realised unforgettable plays which thrilled the audience to enthusiasm.

She died in Riehen, Switzerland, and is buried in the Heerstrasse cemetery in Berlin, alongside her husband.

In 1937 she took part in the movie "Land der Liebe", directed by Reinhold Schnzel. The movie met with huge disapproval by Goebbels and Schnzel had to emigrate. Valerie von Martens and Curt Goetz, who wrote the script, were interrogates by the Gestapo but didnt have other consequences.
