Biography

Todor Dinov was a director, artist, animator. Todor Georgiev Dinov was born on July 24, 1919 in Dedeagach . His next film "Careful angel" shows the development in the style of drawing and thinking of Dinov: naturalistic image is replaced with a fresh pattern of caricature and linear story line - with an unexpected ending. In 1964, Dinov created his iconic movie " Team Flower " robbed the cheers of festival of animation films in Leipzig, Buenos Aires, Ankara, Vienna, Chicago and Cannes. In 1967, "Team Flower" was named best Bulgarian children's film . Other famous cartoons of Dinov are "Lightning", "Jealousy", "Epigram", "Prometheus 20", "Drum", "Paris Rain". Besides painted cinema Dinov is director and screenwriter of several feature films - " Iconostasis ", " Powder Primer ," " Sin of Maltitsa". There are numerous appearances as a cartoonist, illustrator , schedule , painter and placard . He worked with techniques: watercolor , pastel , oil paint . Dinov is one of the founders of the first Studios cartoons in Bulgaria. He was a founder of the specialty Animation Directing at the National Academy , where his students are animators and directors as Donyo Donev , Stoyan Doukov , Ivan Andonov , Ivan Veselinov . In 1999, for his outstanding contribution to the development of Bulgarian culture was honored with the "Stara Planina" I degree. He died on June 17, 2004 in Sofia.

Trivia

Developed what later came to be known as the "Bulgarian Animation School" in the late 1950s, early 1960s. Proteges of this school included: Donio Donev & Stoian Dukov. Others heavily influenced by the "School" are Ivan Andonov and Ivan Vesselino--both of whom have won awards for their animated shorts.
