English actor, born 27 February 1957 in London, England, UK. OBE - Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. He is best known for roles in films by director Mike Leigh.
He was awarded the OBE in the 2000 Queens Millennium Honors List for his services to drama.
He was diagnosed with leukaemia in 1996 but is now recovered.
