Pittsburgh's The Skyliners were renowned for their smooth harmonies, especially on their signature song, 1959's "Since I Don't Have You", on the independent Calico label. The group consisted of lead 'Jimmy Beaumont' and cut another record. The Skyliners still perform at concerts and oldies shows, with original lead Jimmy Beaumont and a new lineup. Two of its original members have died, Janet Vogel in 1980 and Joe Verscharen in 2007.
Original members from 1958 included Jimmy Beaumont , Janet Vogel Rapp, Wally Lester, Joe Verscharen. New members have included Bobby Sholes, Jimmy Ross, Nick Pociask, Donna Groom , Mark Groom, Rick Morris.
Janet Vogel Rapp committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning on Feb. 21, 1980, at age 37.
