In the summer of 2005, Chelsea again tried to lure Gerrard away from Liverpool, and his move looked certain after reportedly been in argument with his Manager. After he was convinced that Liverpool wanted him out, his move to Chelsea looked inevitable. But after the manager confirmed that Liverpool wanted to keep Gerrard, he shocked Chelsea with an amazing U-turn and again stayed with Liverpool. He committed himself by signing a new contract keeping him at Liverpool for another 9 years.

Made his debut for the Liverpool first team when he was 18 years old.

Used to wear the number 17 jersey.
