Stephanie Christa Matys was born and raised in Newmarket Ontario. She caught the performance 'bug' at an early age and credits her mother, a professional singer, for being a major influence in her career. Stephanie quickly got involved in the performing arts. She started dancing everything from Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Salsa and Hip Hop to singing in numerous choirs and taking private singing lessons. She studied piano at the Royal Conservatory of music in Toronto. As well, Stephanie took up playing the clarinet. Stephanie is a graduate of the Arts program at Huron Heights Secondary School in Newmarket. She has starred in many theatre productions, both in school and at local theatre companies, but always knew she would not stop there. Following high school, Stephanie went to Los Angeles where she met Joan See, the founder of The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts School of Film and Television. Joan was impressed with Stephanie's audition and offered a generous scholarship for both a summer acting program as well as a two year acting program at The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts School of Film and Television. Stephanie graduated with Honors. Soon after graduating, Stephanie starred in leading roles in Independent feature films produced and directed by individuals of the School of Visual Arts Academy, in New York City. With modeling and acting credentials to her credit, Stephanie was offered a position as a modeling/ acting instructor at the prestigious Barbizon Academy in New York City. She is now one of the lead instructors at the Barbizon School of Modeling in Toronto and has been recognized with numerous awards for her outstanding dedication to the school. She also teaches Classes at The Freedom School of the Arts in Mississauga. Stephanie has devoted her time, volunteering as a production assistant, for Rogers television in York Region. She was given the position of Reporter for the television show "York Region Living". Stephanie scripted, edited and produced her own segments. She highlighted boutiques, restaurants, clothing stores, spas and more. Stephanie has starred in everything from Music Videos, Webseries, Commercials, Industrials, TV Series and Movies. American Pie Presents Beta House, Cold Blood, Rookie Blue, Degrassi, Movieposter.com and Once Upon a Time in Toronto represent some of the works she has been involved in. She also started working behind the camera, producing 3 commercials and producing and starring in a feature film entitled Lady of the Night. Stephanie has appeared on numerous billboards. She has done so representing the products of Holt Renfrew, NYC Clothing, Hollywood Inc., and La Vida Toronto. She has worked with top photographers across North America and has had magazine publishing's in both Asia and Europe. She recently appeared as a model on Dragons Den and Daytime Television. Stephanie is currently enrolled in the Advanced Class at the Armstrong Acting Studios in Toronto and taking private acting lessons. She considers professional development an important part of her success.
