Biography

Simon Yam was born 19 March, 1955, also known as Yam Tat-wah, is a veteran Hong Kong-based actor and film producer. He started off as a supermodel before becoming an actor in the mid 1970s. He then signed with the Hong Kong television network TVB, starring and co-starring in a number of television series prior to "apply his trades" in the film industry in 1987. His elder brother is Yam Tak-wing, a retired former Deputy Commissioner of Hong Kong Police. In 1989, he starred in the Japanese-Hong Kong co-production of _Fainaru faito - Saigo no ichigeki .

One of the few actors in HK who never got any problems with local triads. The main reason is because his brother is a highly decorated officer of the HK Police elite O.C.T.B. (Organized Crime & Triad Bureau).

Father was a policeman.

Elder brother, Peter Yam Tat-Wing, is Director of Operations in Hong Kong Police Force.

Used to be actor in TVB. Often worked with Yun-Fat Chow, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Carol "Do Do" Cheung and Liza Wong.

Daughter with wife, Qiqi.

Enjoys nature photography in his spare time.

Simon Yam received the Star Asia Award at the 2010 New York Asian Film Festival.
