French producer Shirani Le Mercier, started her film career in 1997 at Sony Pictures France as Special Events Manager in charge of PR tours, junkets and festivals for many blockbuster films. However, in 2002 she followed her growing passion for production when she launched Sony Pictures French co production branch. Then, when in 2003, Shirani was recruited by highly acclaimed Hollywood veteran, producer John Calley to set up his London production office, she spent three years heading his European Productions. It was during this time that Shirani worked on a variety of high profile films including, "Closer" by Mike Nichols .
