Biography

Sean Cernow was born on June 3rd 1977 in Oldham. In 1993 he attended Oldham's Higginshaw School of Performing Arts before going onto study theatre at Tameside College of Performing Arts in Ashton and the North West College of London. In 1998 he enrolled on Salford University's Media Performance Course. In 2002, Sean made his film debut as the gunman, Little Pel in Michael Winterbottom's 24 Hour Party People and his television debut in World Productions' ultra realistic, 2003 BAFTA winning prison drama, Buried alongside Lennie James and Stephen Walters. Sean has since become known as a versatile character actor with an often flawless ability in creating some truly frighteningly realistic characters, such as the brutal drug dealer Tapper in Prisoner's Wives and, Felix in The Musketeers opposite Jason Flemyng and Luca Pasqualino and directed by Toby Haynes. During his career Sean has worked with; Mark Hamill, Stephen Walters, Lennie James, Ben Miles, Hugh Bonneville, David Harewood, Archie Panjabi, Renu Setna, Jane Horrocks, Noel Clarke, James D'Arcy, Richard Madden and Andrew Tiernan.

Frequently plays severely unhinged drug addicts and violently deranged criminals.

Supports Manchester United Football Club.

Has studied Muay Thai Boxing under the famous Trainer of Champions Master A in Manchester since the 1990s.

Paints canvasses, writes and produces his own theatre as well as writing and performing poetry on the Manchester and London Poetry Circuit.

Has played nine prisoners and based these characters on his closest friends! One of these characters, Tony Bush in FINK ON Theatres production of Crying in the Chapel, Strangeways - An Inside Account was one of the ringleaders of the famous Strangeways Prison Riot and received 12 years for his part in the month long disturbance despite spending no more than 5 days on the roof of the prison.

Was second choice to play 90s DJ Day V Lately in the updated J.R Hartley Yellow Pages Advert.

Often appears in films about the music scene of 1990s Manchester affectionately known as Madchester.
