Sam Heughan

He was nominated for a 2003 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Most Promising Newcomer of 2002 for his performance in Outlying Islands performed at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs.

Graduate of The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow.

In November 2016 Sam Heughan was named Scotland President for blood cancer charity Bloodwise. The actor has participated in several marathons and a triathlon on behalf of Bloodwise in addition to other fund raising efforts in the fight again blood cancer.

I never once dreamed of sort of being able to be in an American TV,series, you know? It was all about theater and touring and sort of,being an actor around Scottish theater.

My accent is. . . sort of an Edinburgh sort of soft southwest Scottish,accent. It could almost be English.

I was born and brought up in the countryside. I used to live in a sort,of converted stables on the grounds of a castle, and I spent a lot of,my childhood running around with a pretend sword pretending to be,Robert the Bruce.
