In 1997, she wrote her own cookbook: Soap Opera Cafe: the Skinny on Food From a Daytime Star. She dedicated it to the person who helped her realize she had a passion for cooking, her father, Paul Mattson.

When not performing, she enjoys skiing and ice skating as well as gardening and decorating.
