Biography

Richard Charles Lintern was born on October 25th 1962 and studied English Literature at the University of Durham before winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Entering television in small roles in 1988 he has been a regular in popular series 'Heartbeat', 'The House of Eliot' and, since 2014 as head pathologist Thomas Chamberlain in 'Silent Witness'. His most notable film role was as 'Jinnah' in 1998, playing the younger version of the founder of Pakistan, his older self being portrayed by Christopher Lee. His many stage appearances have included 'The Royal Hunt of the Sun' for the National Theatre', 'Hamlet' at Bristol Old Vic, The West Yorkshire Playhouse production of 'The Merchant of Venice' and 'The Duchess of Malfi' for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Married to corporate lawyer Karen with three children Mr Lintern has homes in his native Somerset and London.
