Biography

Rene Fitzgerald Garcia was Born in Havana,Cuba, a self taught animation artist during the late 40's - early 50's. He managed to work himself into a position at Havana's primary TV Station . Rene moved his Family to Miami, Fla. and continued on to Hollywood with starry eyes to complete his life's dream to work for Disney. He was only able to find employment a Sears, where he worked retail; with his strong ambition, he advanced to a position in the Advertisement dept. Rene's tenacity lead him in search for a spot in animation. Successfully he gained connections and with knowledge and developed artistic capabilities found employment at Hanna-Barbara Productions as a Background artist. His past experience in Cuba, required responsibilities of the complete process of the animation. Therefore, creating backgrounds were less demanding in some areas, yet dealt with a higher quality in animation backgrounds. In the early 60's with the successful TV Series "The Flinstones". Soon after the creation of "The Jetsons", which was a series beloved by the public, but did not make the cut in the cooperate arena. Through the decades at Hanna-Barbara he strived to developed his talents, which were noted by Disney's Animation Dept. He was recruited to work with the Disney's Animation Dept.. Rene Garcia's name is seen on the credits for the Animation Film "The Little Mermaid" on the animation background section.
