Biography

Robert "Red" Gene West was a close friend of 'Elvis Presley' , Elvis' father, fired West, Sonny West and Hebler after criticizing what he believed to be their heavy-handed tactics. The three of them collaborated on a book about their lives as Elvis' bodyguards, which was published just two weeks before Elvis' death in 1977. West has since continued his acting and songwriting careers.

Father of John Boyd West.

Former bodyguard of Elvis Presley. He wrote the tell all book "Elvis What Happened?" about the King along with other bodyguards, shortly before Presley died.

Cousin of Elvis Presley s bodyguard, Del Sonny West.

Was played by his own son, John Boyd West , in the "Quantum Leap" episode, "Quantum Leap" {Memphis Melody - July 3, 1954 (#5.21)} , and "Elvis" .

Co-wrote the song "If Every Day Was Like Christmas". Recorded by Wests friend Elvis Presley in 1966, it became almost as strongly identified with Elvis as his earlier Holiday hit, "Blue Christmas", and is regarded as a standard today.

Was considered for the role of Captain Spaulding in House of 1000 Corpses .
