Rachel Sweet began her career as a singer before moving towards acting, writing, and producing. She started out at 12 years old as a Country singer, mostly in New York and Nashville, but had already been in a few TV commercials before that. Her debut record was released in 1976 ,and two years later she signed a contract with British indie company Stiff, for whom she made several records. In 1981 she signed a contract with Columbia Records, with whom she turned even more in a Pop direction.
Rachel hosted her own television show called "The Sweet Life" on HBOs Comedy Channel (before it became Comedy Central) from 1989 to 1990 which had a huge cult following.
