Prince was a prolific and popular musician, songwriter, and producer of many hit records, beginning in the 1980s. He won an Academy Award for the music in the feature film "Purple Rain," in which he also appeared. He won seven Grammy awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. He was a multi-instrumental musician and is known to have played most of the individual parts on his recordings. He released 39 albums.
