Biography

Piero Sbragia started his filmmaking career with a DV-Cam he took borrowed from his father. The movies he made during the next years were family chronicles. Generally recorded between a barbecue and reunions until 2011. Graduate in Journalism at Mackenzie Presbiterian University, he spent the first ten years of his career working as a reporter and TV host at the two most watched television channels in Brazil, Globo TV and Record TV. In 2012, he started to study Documentary at the Film School coordinated by Eduardo Escorel, famous director and editor of movies as "Terra em Transe", "O Dragão da Maldade contra o Santo Guerreiro", "Macunaíma", "Chico Antônio, o Herói com Caráter", "Vocação do Poder", and many others. The high contrast photography style became present and intense in the first movies of his career, such as "Descobrir". Besides the work in cinema, he's also doing a Masters in Education, Arts & History of Culture. Piero is a regular college professor of Photography Language, Broadcast Journalism, News Coverage Techniques, among other classes.

At the end of 2004, Piero Sbragia co-directed and co-written a documentary about one of the main soccer rivalry in Brazil. "Vencer ou Morrer - A rivalidade entre corintianos e palmeirenses" which was a college graduation project.

The first contact with the making of movies was during family encounters. In 2009 and 2010 Piero made two "home movies" about the Sbragia family reunions, "Sbragia - Una Saga" and "Sbragia Uniti". In 2011 he direct a 60 minutes movie to celebrate the 60th anniversary of his father, Dino Sbragia: "Dino - A Arte de Viver".
