Philippe Joly is a French/Russian actor living in Hong Kong. He regularly plays the villain in action films across Asia , is an avid practitioner of close-up magic and card manipulation, and has trained in various martial arts.
During the filming of a TV show in Hong Kong for the Russian TV channel Moya Planeta, Philippe Joly was speaking English and his voice was later dubbed into Russian when the show aired in Russia. This is ironic because Philippe Joly can actually speak Russian fluently. But because the show was filmed in Hong Kong, the producers preferred if all guests spoke English, in order not to confuse the Russian audience.
