American director and film editor
Brother of Danny B. Landres.
Entered the film business in 1931 as an assistant to editor Philip Cahn at Universal Pictures.
He worked for Universal as an editor for 11 years from 1937 and directed his first feature film in 1949. However, he eventually concentrated on directing for television.
Was a founding member of American Cinema Editors.
Attended UCLA for two years but dropped out to enter the film industry.
