Paige Turco was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on May 17, 1965. As a child she studied to become a ballerina. She performed as a soloist with the New England Dance Conservatory, The Amherst Ballet Theatre Company and the Western Massachusetts Ballet Company, but her dreams were shattered when an ankle injury terminated her career as a dancer at the age of 14. She was forced to re-evaluate her career decision and focused on drama and musical comedies instead. Paige graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in drama. She landed her first soap opera part in 1987 in CBS's _"The Guiding Light" .
Paige and her husband Jason OMara had similar career reversals in their early life. Paige trained to be a classical ballerina, then broke her foot at age 14 during a rehearsal, and was forced to end her dancing career. Jason was an avid rugby player until he too was sidelined by injury. While recuperating, he tried out for a school play and got hooked. Jason and Paige met while they were starring in the TV series "The Agency" .
