Biography

Buckley is a member of the DGA and ACE. A native of Fort Worth, TX, he majored in history at the University of Texas at Arlington before graduating from the University of Southern California with a degree in film and television production. He was an adjunct professor at UCLA for several years, teaching editing classes to both graduate and undergraduate students. He was married to the late artist Davyd Whaley, until Whaley's death in 2014.

Norman Buckleys brief acting career began and ended when he was drafted to play a part in "Solomon and Sheba" because the production didnt want to fly any more English-speaking actors to the location in Morocco.

Norman Buckley is the brother of actress Betty Buckley.

The OC episode "The Metamorphosis", directed by Buckley, was selected as one of the five best episodes of the series by Entertainment Weekly magazine.

The Gossip Girl episode "The Handmaidens Tale", directed by Buckley, was selected as one of the top ten TV episodes of 2007 by Newsweek Magazine.

His television movie The Pregnancy Project won Best Primetime Program (Special or Movie of the Week) and Best Actress (Alexa Vega) at the 2012 Imagen Awards.

Norman Buckley founded The Davyd Whaley Foundation (davydwhaleyfoundation.org) in memory of his late spouse Davyd Whaley (1967-2014), to support LA area artists. He also edited a monograph about Whaley, including an essay titled "A Heros Journey" by Peter Clothier.
