Emigre Russian character actor, who left his country following the October Revolution and made films in France and Germany (at Ufa).

The actor Nicolas Koline was born as Nikola Fjodorowitsch Kolin in St. Petersburg.

He took part in his first German movie in 1928 with "Geheimnisse des Orients" , it followed the silent movie "Hurrah! Ich lebe!" .

He first got an education as a teacher before he decided at the age of 29 to become an actor.

Nicolas Koline spent his last years in New York where he died.

His film career came to an end with the rise of the sound film for the time being, only from 1935 he acted again in front of the camera. With few exceptions he took part in German movies only.

He continued his film career successfully after the war.

He started his artistic career at the theater and he often appeared on stage in Moscow.

Nicolas Koline had to emigrate from Russia after the end of the October Revolution and he went to Western Europe where he first settled in France.
