Biography

Musician, band leader, songwriter. Napoleón Baltodano was born in the city of Managua (Nicaragua) on September 1, 1895. He arrived in Venezuela in 1929, as musical director of an amusement circus, from Costa Rica and he was hired to provide services in the Martial Band of Venezuela, as the first trumpet. In 1940 he founded his own orchestra, which he named “Las Estrellas Melódicas”. That same year, his well-known and popular bolero "Embrujo" was inspired and composed in lyrics and music. Originally it became known under the name of "Brujeria", which has been disseminated and performed in different latitudes of the continent, also having to his credit numerous compositions. Napoleón Baltodano dies on April 5, 1970, at the age of 75.
