Biography

Nakia Nichole Lawrence, from McDonough, Georgia, is a passionate actress with tremendous versatility and skill in performing arts. Determined to pursue her passion, Nakia attended Jackson State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Dramatic Arts. As an undergraduate, she made her acting debut as " Lady in Blue" in Ntozake Shange's "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuff." From there, she expanded her professional acting credits by joining MADDRAMA Performing Arts Troupe where she was cast for numerous shows, including 'Livin Fat' and 'Motown Revue.' Post-graduation, she entered a Professional Acting internship with New Stage Theatre located in Jackson, Mississippi. While interning, she starred in "Charlotte's Web," "Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad" and "Dracula." After completing her internship, she starred in "Excuse Me Miss, But I'm in Love with your Husband" portraying the role of Sgt. Gabrielle Jones, alongside Tameka Scott of Xscape, and also had a role in "The Perfect Pastor," starring Keke Wyatt and Le' Andria Johnson, as Mya Hudson. Nakia currently resides in her hometown, and continues to hone her skills in performing arts while making strides in her career.
