Universal Soldier: Regeneration

When the terrorists stop the timer on the detonator, the LED readout displays 00.

However, in the next shot showing video surveillance of the timer the readout shows 00.

As the initial kidnapping scene is ending and the car chase is about to begin, the final gunman fires off rounds at civilians and one last guard as the back door to the vehicle is closed from the inside.

The next shot shows the door wide open again and the gunman entering it unhindered.

When the enemy soldier is 'spared' by Luc and promptly turns and jumps out of the window behind him, the window can be seen being blown out from the bottom left and right prematurely.

The Chernobyl power station is described as being 'surrounded' by a derelict city.

The power station is surrounded by open countryside.

The nearest town is a mile and a half away.

Chernobyl power station as shown as deserted.

In reality, hundreds of people still work there and nuclear material is still being processed.

"Universal Soldier" is a rip off of the Terminator movies. The difference is in the semantics.

If you are a fan of shopworn actors with lots of fight still in them, good writing and direction, this is your lucky day.

-Plot : With stolen top-secret technology, terrorists have created a next-generation Universal Soldier - an elite fighter genetically altered into a programmable killing machine . With this "UniSol" (Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei "The Pit Bull" Arlovski) leading the way, they seize the crippled Chernobyl nuclear reactor, threatening to unleash a lethal radioactive cloud .

This was an excellent action packed sci-fi Thriller, it was way better than the 90s Cult Classic original, the new director "John Hyams" has given the franchise a new blast of action energy that it so needed after the terrible last cheap sequels, yes this is a low-budget action B-movie but it's made with so much skill & style it's simply Awesome, his next sequel "Reckoning" takes the franchise to an even higher standard of quality!!! This film is a brutal & very dark sci-fi Thriller with a cold winter setting & a moody & gritty atmosphere, this is well made & expertly crafted action movie!!!

If you've watched all 4 main Universal Soldier movies, you probably noticed that storyline in between them does not make sence at all, each of them completely ignores the previous film and makes like a seqel to nothing, but this one is quite different. It feels like a great sequel to the original film, if you ignore the second one ("The Return" 1999).

The setting was overused: hostage situation, blabla. 2/3 of the movie was about getting Can Damme ready.

There was a brief period after Wrong Bet aka Lionheart and Bloodsport came out when Van Damme mania was at its highest and they tried to maximise this by churning out as many films as possible. Don't worry it didn't last long.

Really no content or story at all. Even in the 80s they would have considered this an action movie with really nothing else.
