This beautiful documentary presents a moving picture of Maria Irene Fornes, one of the unsung heroes of the Off-off Broadway movement of the 1960s and a powerful playwright and educator. Anyone interested in history, the arts, theatre, and the power of women to bring lasting change should take time to enjoy this piece created by Michelle Memran.
A beautiful, touching film. Lingers with you long after the closing credits.
This documentary is about so many things--theatre, New York City, Cuba, friendship, aging, art--but it is really about LIFE. It is beautifully shot and edited and becomes a kind of visual poem, but without ever flagging or slowing down.
The film shares the back story of a creative force--Irene Fornes--but is brought to you the lens of a deep friendship with the filmmaker Michelle Memran as they both struggle through what it means to loose your memory and what you can and can't hold onto. Hopefully will be streaming soon as it's a lovely lovely film!
