The dirt on the shirts throughout the film goes from clean to dirty to clean and dirty.

So does the dirt on the faces.

Near the end of the film after Jackson falls in the mud trying to catch up to Cullen there is thick mud all the way up his front over his shoulders.

In the next shot his right shoulder is suddenly unmuddied.

As John and Noah are swept downriver together, a person is seen on the shore moving into the top of frame, watching the two men.

Twice they are soaked to the skin in water and mud, but come up with dry cigarettes and matches.

When Joker and Cullen finally break free from their chains, the sounds of the hammer repeatedly striking the chisel are not in synchronization.

The truck that was shown being recovered after crashing through a guard rail and rolling onto its top has no damage to the front or top of the cab, and the passenger side of the truck that would have hit the guard rail, and landed first when it rolled; has no damage at all.

The only damage portrayed was to the wood side rails, a relatively inexpensive way to make the truck look damaged for a quick take.

When jumping into the mud pit, Tony Curtis' stunt double has a noticeable bald spot.

At the end of the film the two convicts run a considerable distance away from the bridge as they try to board the train.

But when they are finally found the same bridge is only yards away.

Reviews

All I want to say is congrats to Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine.

The world must see this film! Specially in these times where we are facing an historic event that made blacklivesmatter an international theme.

Stanley Kramer directed this racial drama that stars Tony Curtis as John 'Joker' Jackson and Sidney Poiter as Noah Cullen, two convicts on a chain gang chained together who escape after the truck carrying them has an accident. They flee into the woods, where at first their mutual hatred makes it difficult to get along(and evade recapture).

Chained together, two prison escapees (one Caucasian the other African-American) have to learn to overcome racial prejudice to successfully flee together in this emotionally charged drama from Stanley Kramer. The film was considered quite important in its day for its advocating of racial tolerance - winning an Academy Award for its screenplay and the Golden Globe for Best Picture no less - however, it is questionable how much impact the film would have on contemporary viewers today.

The Defiant Ones is not a family flick. It is for adults 15 and older.

The Defiant Ones is a movie about two escaped prisoners, John Jackson who is a white man, and Noah Cullen who is a black man. They travel across the country and at first are total opposites of each other, however as their journey continues, they form a deep bond and eventually become good friends.

Before anything else I wish to stipulate here, that this writing is non-partisan one and has nothing to do with any form of racism, communism or whatsoever deviant behavior - cf., "Defiant Ones" (1958) and also less prominent remake with Carl Weathers and Robert Urich in 1986.

... but no Charlie Potatoes: like the races they represent, two escaped cons battle through the swamps and their prejudice and demonstrate there's so much more to who we are than the colour of our skin.

I enjoyed every second of the defiant ones and I can't even find a weakness except one: Where is Marilyn Manson? They advertised this documentary with him a lot, he is on it's cover on Netflix but he's got about 2 minutes at all.
