Reviews

Once again BBC shows it late night. I missed the start but caught up with it.

I just bought and watched the German DVD (which does include the English audio as well) and I must say I'm disappointed. I love many British comedies from this period in both their series and movie versions although I had never seen this one before.

THAT'S YOUR FUNERAL is one of the latter-day TV series adaptations that Hammer Films were making as they moved through the 1970s. The series on which it was based was a short-lived one from 1970 about rival funeral directors, and it seems an odd choice for the big screen.

At last That's your funeral film is out on DVD. Contrary to what others have wrote in negative terms about it I like it, pity series was wiped.

This film is soooo good and yet others that have no idea of what they are talking about slag the film off. The film his a spin-off from the TV series of the same name, the timing of each gag and they acting is perfect no body is out of place.

Generally I think I like feature-film spin-offs of TV sitcoms more than most viewers. But this is a dire example of the genre.

This film regularly gets a one star rating in the film guides. Why?

I can't remember seeing the TV series of the same name, but this film shows off the immense talents of Bill, Raymond and Roy superbly. The idea of a mix up with coffins is not exactly new, the plot has few surprises, but it's the sublime acting which carries the film, which follows the style of that era, mixing the trends of the younger generation with staid old timers.
