The one episode that ran near the end of the series and that I remember vividly, though I forgot the title concerned a group of scientist in a remote jungle location. They are hounded by an invisible creature that sucks blood.

Despite being exhibited in regionalist programme from the 48th edition of the Gramado Festival, "Tales of Tomorrow" presents a much more inspired and creative work than most of the national and international competitive crop. Converging the reference of fantasy and science fiction films of the last decades, the film directed by Pedro de Lima Marques is universalist from the bottom up.

I started watching "the Twilight Zone" at age six in 1959 and for me that has been the bar for high quality science fiction. I have recently discovered a number of episodes of "Tales of Tomorrow" on Youtube.

Fans of TV science fiction can always identify "Tales of Tomorrow" as the earliest sci-fi anthology program. The series established the future format for "The Twilight Zone" and "The Outer Limits" and provided many young actors with opportunities at the beginning of their careers.

Watching this program back in the early 50's was a real treat to say it scared the hell out of me would be an understatement. Here we had a live show with minimal sets and special effects yet the writing was such that every story was totally believable.

Television of the early 1950's had lots of science fiction programmes. You had your choice of "Rocky Jones, Space Ranger", "Flash Gordon", "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet" and the series I am here tonight to talk about.

Here's a bit of trivia for anyone who's a fan of Universal monsters or Lon Chaney: rw0043883 Hup234!

The episode titled "A Child is Crying" provides a striking example of what can be achieved by good writing. "A Child is Crying" guest-starred Robin Morgan of "Mama" in a "Children of the Damned" style Cold War message story.
