A friend showed me his copy of "Spider Baby" a couple of years ago, and to tell the truth, in spite of my bent for odd ball fringe cinema, I wasn't sure what to make of it...although I had to admit, it had its moments.

Man, Jack Hill rules. Sorceress?

With so many movies being released year after year there are bound to be some that fall between the cracks when it comes to making appearances over and over again. Such is the case with SPIDER BABY.

Uncle Peter: "Do you like horror movies?"Spider Baby, also known as The Maddest Story Ever Told, is about a caretaker who lives in an old mansion with three siblings who suffer from Merry Syndrome.

One of the strangest, most original movies to come out of the 1960s. Imitated many times since but never duplicated.

When I was a wee lad, many decades ago, there were two female images that would inevitably give me the jitters as I lay down to sleep at night. The first was that of Vampira's ghoulish character, advancing toward the camera with arms extended, in a nighttime graveyard, in the film that I much later realized was none other than Ed Wood's notorious "Plan 9 From Outer Space" (1959).

Spider Baby or The Maddest Story Ever Told is a movie geared for older teens and those adults who are under 40. To me, Spider Baby is just another version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Made in 1964 but not released until 1968. This is significant since Movies and attitudes about Movies changed considerably in those four Years.

Not much more to say that others haven't already it is one of the best creepy, low budget 60's horror ever. And for this kind of movie actually has fantastic acting performances and campy in a good way not cheesy.
