When Number 5 is driving and listening to the radio, we see the first radio station that he listens to, that is carrying a horse race, is at frequency 94.

After changing the settings 2 times, he stops at a radio station that is playing music, but the frequency is back to 94.

The bullet hole in Number 5's chest disappears in the van.

Stephanie shows Number 5 the sun in the morning.

However, they are looking west over the Pacific Ocean, so they are watching the sun setting not rising.

When the protoypes are being shown off to the military brass at the beginning of the movie, the weather seems to change inconsistently between shots.

During the chase for Number Five, a soldier mentions driving to the top of Mt.

Helens.

There were no roads to the summit of Mt.

Helens even before the eruption in 1980.

When Crosby manipulates the robot arm to play the keyboard, the keys the robot fingers are pressing do not correspond to the notes that we hear.

When Ben is draping a tie around Crosby's neck near the beginning, the two ends of the tie start off hanging straight down, in the next shot they are crossed over, and in the next shot they are uncrossed again.

The top head plate of #5's head, when he gets struck by lightning, is going down in one shot, then in the next shot it's up all the way.

When the disassembled car is first shown, there is a metal bar leaning against the back of the car seat.

But when Frank picks it up, it's now leaning against the front of the seat.

When trying to locate Johnny 5 on the computer right after he escapes, the man in the blue lab coat standing behind Newton is never shown reflected in the monitor.

In the upper left part of the computer monitor the second time the "malfunction" message is shown.

The amount of pancakes on the tray Johnny 5 is holding changes between shots.

When Frank lifts the glass of orange juice off the tray there is some resistance at first, probably from the adhesive used to keep the glass from sliding off during filming.

After Frank is knocked down with the tray, the arms of the person operating Johnny 5 can be seen as the robot turns to run.

As Johnny 5 starts to fall off the waste disposal truck after leaving Nova there are lots of trees visible.

But in the next shot, the truck is driving by a field.

The bed of the waste disposal truck is full as it leaves Nova.

But as Johnny 5 falls off, there is a lot of empty space around him and part of the other side of the truck is missing.

When the armed men are shooting from the boat dock, the barrel of one of the guns can be seen with something in it.

The grill of the disassembled car is first shown lying across 2 logs, but in later shots, the logs are gone.

The military men used in the robot demonstration are supposed to be dummies.

But the man in the tank can be seen tilting his head forward just before it fires.

The military men used in the robot demonstration are supposed to be dummies.

But when the convoy is first shown, the driver of the first jeep can be seen readjusting his grip on the steering wheel.

Number 5 is hit by the trash robot, in the next shot while he is being moved, his mouth cover is gone, and then back on when he is loaded onto the truck.

When Stephanie is reaching for her dog, which is on the roof, it's suddenly pouring rain but after he leaps into her arms there's no rain in sight.

When the two buses arrive at NOVA to deliver the crowd of spectators from the testing range, the first has a blue stripe and the second red.

In the next scene both are red.

After Number 5 lands on top of Stephanie's truck, when it arrives at her home he is still watching from the roof.

But in the shot when Stephanie is talking with Mrs Cepeda, the truck is visible in the background but Number 5 is not there.

Then in the following shot of the truck, he is visible again.

During the final stand off after Crosby and Speck exit the van, Crosby's window is rolled up.

Then after they cut back to 5 in the back of the van he is re-rolling up the window and locking the door.

When Number 5 is first hit by the little trash robot the number on the side of the trash can is 3765.

In subsequent shots it is 3250.

When Stephenie first sees Number 5 and says "I knew they'd pick me! I just knew it!" the sound is slightly our of sync with her mouth movements.

During the chase scenes with Number 5 driving through the streets, the weather changes from sunny and clear to overcast between the shots.

During the chase when Number 5 steals the snack truck, Newton and Ben switch positions in the Nova van.

Newton is driving at first, but then Ben is driving when they arrive at the scene.

When Newton is driving the NOVA cube van at night, Ben reaches over to turn on the headlamps, but the switch on GM based vans and cab-and-chassis is located to the left of the steering column - totally out of reach of the passenger.

On both front fenders of Stephanie's van, "Parties Catered" is misspelled.

Perhaps Stephanie made the mistake herself or the filmmakers just didn't notice it, but sure enough, the van says "Partys Catered".

When Crosby is in the lab programming the robot arm to play the keyboard, another arm answers the phone for him and then hangs up, both on command.

As Crosby gets up to leave, you can see the arm behind him picking up the phone receiver again, although there was no incoming call.

When Stephanie is in her kitchen cooking something in a pan, she offers the stirring spoon to a pet skunk to taste it even though it is obviously steaming hot and would burn any animal's mouth that touches it.

When the NOVA security force is 1st pursuing #5, when the "Ferret" armored car hits #5 on the bridge & he raises his head to look into the vehicle, the driver slams the protective cover shut.

In th next shot when #5 is flying off the bridge, the cover is open again.

When #5 is confronted by Frank, #5 shoots the brim of Frank's hat off with his laser.

Before the laser shot hits the hat, you can see the burnt strip where the brim was attached before it falls off.

During the kitchen scene when he J5 is making breakfast for Stef.

His apron goes from splatters to several runs.

And the counter where he is mixing gets cleaned when Stef goes to look out the window.

Reviews

Short Circuit is directed by John Badham and written by S.S.

May 9, 2016Number 5 is a cute robot and brought to amazing life through special effects, however, I'm a little confused as to how this is a kids film? It's full of foul language, even from the robot and it got a real dark sense of humor that is more likely to scare kids that entertain them.

Easy to confuse the first with the second if you haven't seen either in a while, the second is the more fun of the two and the one set in New York. The first is the totally boring one, half set in the military base with Steve Guttenberg and half set in Ally Sheedy's house.

In the spirit of ET, comes an 86 hit, from a director who makes films like John Hughes writs scripts. Though if you look beyond the computer components and the boring banter of this high tech machine facility, what we have is a quite an adventurous, and surprise fun flick.

LOVE this short film!!I can't begin to say how great it is.

The basis of a good short film is getting all the elements right. The idea needs to be sound.

For a family title this movie is great, no profanity very little real violence and a good treatment of what might happen if a machine suddenly became self aware and had to learn about the world just as a child might. The scene with the girl's nut case boyfriend is classic (I won't ruin it for you).

I remeber this movie from childhood. I really liked it...
