Based on the case of Giovanni Vigliotto (born Fred Jiff), a serial bigamist and former mental patient who married and conned over 100 women. Here he is played by Peter Coyote, and Tuesday Weld plays the character based on Patricia Ann Gardiner, who was robbed of $36,000 by Vigliotto and successfully tracked him down and launched the court case which eventually saw him convicted of fraud and bigamy.
