Shortly after moving into the cottage he heads off into the village.

As he closes the otter flap he's wearing wellies.

On the way down the hill he's in shoes, but when he arrives in the village he is back in welly boots.

Bill Travers's character is supposed to be going to Scotland by train.

He enters Victoria station and is then seen buying a ticket at Marylebone.

To travel to Scotland he would need to travel from either Euston or King's Cross.

"I see you! The man with the beautiful fish!

The reviewers here who give this film a low rating because it isn't 'family friendly' miss the point entirely. This is a beautiful story about respecting nature and appreciating the need to preserve it.

After the success of the 1966 British film "Born Free," which starred real-life couple Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna, is it any wonder that the similarly-themed "Ring of Bright Water" came out a few years later in 1969? THE STORY: Travers plays a writer in London who is strangely drawn to an otter in a pet store window.

I must have been nine years old, given the date of the film, when I saw this. I remember it as gray, wet, and fascinating.

If you've ever harboured a fantasy of upping sticks and moving to some remote corner of the world with only wildlife for company then RING OF BRIGHT WATER is the film for you. It's a simplistic story of one man's friendship with a tame otter, and it's one of the most beautiful movies out there.

Just when you get to love the little critter, when you've bonded, when you wish you had one of your very own. SMACK.

My grandmother showed this to me when I was a child (about 5 or 6) because she knew how much I love animals and she thought a film about otters would be a great choice for me. A film about otters would've been a great choice, had the otter not been beat to death with a shovel.

I saw this in grade school with our entire school in our hall. Although the movie is a delight for the most part especially falling in love with Mij.

A very simple plot: man disaffected with London life decamps to the Scottish wilderness accompanied by the tame otter he rescued from a pet shop. In Scotland he meets a woman and their mutual appreciation of the countryside and love of the otter brings them together.
