When the President addresses a joint session of Congress, there are microphones from the four American radio networks of that time - ABC, CBS, NBC and Mutual.

On the side of the Mutual microphone are the call letters KHJ, which was the Mutual station in Los Angeles.

WOL was the Mutual affiliate in Washington, D.

Linda Cronyn (a scientist) states 'Albert Einstein split the atom'.

Albert Einstein had no part in the splitting of the atom.

His work predicted what would happen if it was split.

The Russian patrol that arrives to search the peasants' house arrives in a World War II-era American "deuce and a half" (two and half ton truck).

Cronyn broadcasts the first few digits of Pi to the (presumed) Martians, on the theory that any advanced civilization would be familiar with it and respond in kind.

However, Cronyn has no basis to assume that Martians would use a base 10/decimal numeral system as we do on Earth, which would be required in order for them to recognize Pi as Cronyn was broadcasting it.

At about 33:20.

the President quotes a familiar poem, "Solution there is none, save in the Golden Rule of Christ alone.

" He then says, "My father was very fond of Emerson.

" But the line he quotes is from an anti-slavery poem of John Greenleaf Whittier.

A scientist makes contact with Mars but the messages, which promise longevity and unlimited food and power, trigger the collapse of Western capitalism, much to the satisfaction of the Soviets, until the final messages, which confirms the existence of the Christian God, brings down their oppressive system of Godless communism as well. At the end, there are Revelations about the origins of the messages, and sacrifices are made and an agent of Satan thwarted.

I saw this movie in 2013 and I think it has some good ideas. After 61 years we see that some things are naive and anyone who likes action movies will not like this movie.

First, I want to say that this movie was not what I expected from just the title. I was caught up in the story very quickly.

Planet Earth has been receiving radio messages from its nearest neighbour Mars . Messages telling of a new type of technology means that fossil fuels will become redundant meaning that millions of jobs will be lost in the Western world .

This is a movie about a different planet. That planet would be the Planet Earth of 1952.

I was rather surprised to have seen this movie a long time ago. this obscure 1952 scifi movie is similar to the 1997 movie Contact, based off of a book by the same name.

Harry Horner directs this different for the times Sci-Fi flick about Mars. No rocket ships, no cheesy space flights...

I was hoping this was some early space exploration film, it starts off fairly interesting with alleged messages from Mars, coupled with images of the unexplained loss of the Martian polar ice caps. That got me interested in it almost right away.

A scientist receives signals from Mars that has enormous cultural and spiritual significance. The messages are believed to come from Jesus Christ on Mars.
