It's a movie that you want to finish it. Scenes, details are beautiful, nostalgia.

Midnight in Paris looks and feels great. But there's not enough substance under that haze of nostalgic charm.

So, actually, I HATE Woody Allen films. just saying his name makes me groan and roll my eyes.

"Midnight in Paris" has one fault that simply could not be fixed. The lead character, Gil, is Woody Allen as we've seen him in decades past.

This easy-going holiday through Paris and time sees its amicable, nostalgia-stricken protagonist wander through the streets at night, justifiably seeking a break from his demanding and altogether not-worth-it fiancée, until he somehow traverses back to the roaring twenties when the clock strikes midnight. 'Midnight In Paris (2011)' explores the kind of sliding nostalgia that seems to afflict every generation (right now, we're in a bit of an eighties and nineties fever), one that makes people think life was generally better before their birth.

If you've just seen his last movies you'll find Woody Allen completely unrecognisable. Midnight in Paris comes out old style.

There are plenty of big, loud blockbusters making their way to a theater near you. 2011 is a little more lackluster than most.

Today I watched Midnight in Paris and I loved this movie and ended up shedding a few tears. "Paris & Rains" I love both.

I stopped going to Woody Allen movies several years ago, when they had started to become pedantic (and let's be honest here) pretentious and self-importantly "deep." Woody Allen is still a very funny man, and I especially like his humor pieces in "The New Yorker.
