In the outdoor pool scene for "You're So Square" guitarist Scotty Moore wears sunglasses in the long shots, but no glasses in the medium shots.

No visible sign of tracheotomy.

Concerning the Laurel Records partnership, Shores mentioned that the "40 percent participant failed to telephone the 60 percent partner," i.

, Peggy failed to telephone Vince.

However, Shores was a 9 percent partner in the firm, which left Vince with 51 percent of the company, not 60 percent.

In several of the songs Elvis sings, his lips don't quite match the words in places.

This is probably because he is lip-syncing to a a recording he made earlier.

When Vince drives off in the 1957 Lincoln, the sound effect is a four cylinder engine.

Teddy Talbot's shirt changes between shots (most noticeable in the colorized version).

In the first song performed the drums don't match the soundtrack.

When Vince and Peggy enter her parents house you can see the black "T" tape on the carpet where Elvis has to stand.

This is more visible in the colorized version.

Reviews

After serving time for manslaughter, young Vince Everett (Elvis Presley) becomes a teenage rock star.I was never a big Elvis fan.

This is a very enjoyable musical drama, Elvis has more of a character to play here, as opposed to just playing himself, and he's more than serviceable. There was always that potential for acting greatness with him, and it pokes through here.

During the 1950's and 1960's, rock stars capitalized on their popularity by making feature films starring themselves. Two famous rock stars/bands often did this The Beatles and The King himself, Elvis Presley.

Considered by some to be his best movie vehicle, the Elvis Presley feature "Jailhouse Rock" does indeed provide its star with an agreeable showcase. The King stars as Vince Everett, a hot tempered young man who accidentally kills a guy in a bar fight, and does time for manslaughter.

No need to recap the plot.Seeing the movie again after so many years, I'm more impressed than in 1958.

Jailhouse Rock is seen as one of Elvis Presley's best movies . Some would say that isn't saying too much because most of his films weren't great but for all it's faults , i enjoyed it .

Vince Everett (Elvis Presley) inadvertently kills a man in a bar fight. He is sent to prison for manslaughter.

His poor acting certainly doesn't help, but making the main character such a jerkwad, dooms this relic of early hillbilly from the beginning of the movie. He's a self-absorbed, selfish, rude, conceited tool, who doesn't engender any empathy (or even sympathy) regarding his obstacles to fame, fortune, and happiness.
